NYS Route 33, Kensington Expressway Project - $1 billion
East Buffalo has a unique opportunity to reconnect a neighborhood that has been divided for generations through a $1 billion transportation investment on the Kensington Expressway, which is a generational opportunity to right the wrongs of the past and reunite East Buffalo once and for all. The project includes funding to reconnect the east-west neighborhoods across the depressed section of the Kensington Expressway corridor in East Buffalo, while re-establishing the green space originally provided by Humboldt Parkway, without compromising an important regional transportation link that the Expressway provides. The DOT, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, has prepared an Environmental Document for the NYS Route 33, Kensington Expressway Project.
The latest information about the project, including Frequently Asked Questions, is available at the Kensington Expressway Project website.
