New York State Center for Educational Civil Discourse

COMBATING HATE THROUGH EDUCATION

Governor Hochul established the New York State Anti-Hate in Education Center and Inaugural Convening as part of comprehensive State action to fight antisemitism and to respond to President Biden’s national strategy to counter antisemitism.

The Center aims to combat hate, and to create a safer, inclusive, and equitable climate for all New York students.

This work is achieved by bringing together stakeholders from a range of partner institutions and organizations to analyze, collaborate and discuss practical policy-oriented solutions.

The Center will continue its work, shifting topics on an annual basis, to address the interconnectedness of hate and take a deep dive into the specific manifestations of hate and how it can be addressed through education.

Inaugural Convening

On December 5, 2024, the Anti-Hate in Education Center’s Inaugural Convening on Antisemitism was held at The Center for Jewish History. At this event, the Anti-Hate in Education Center was officially renamed as the New York State Center for Educational Civil Discourse.
