Governor Hochul declared a State of Emergency effective at 8 p.m. due to heavy snowfall expected downstate as a coastal storm system will arrive Friday evening bringing more than a foot of snow and gusty winds to parts of Long Island and up to 10 inches of snow in New York City and the lower Hudson Valley.

Earlier, Governor Hochul, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton, and LaGuardia Gateway Partners CEO Frank Scremin celebrated the completion of new facilities at LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B, marking a major milestone in the terminal's $4 billion transformation.

Governor Hochul and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced the groundbreaking of the $223.9 million Forge River Watershed Sewer District project designed to reduce nitrogen loading and improve water quality for homeowners and businesses located in the Mastic-Shirley area.
