Video & Photos: Governor Cuomo Announces State Landmarks Lit Blue and Gold and Firework Displays Across the State in Recognition of Reaching 70% of Single Dose Vaccinations

13 State Landmarks Lit Blue and Gold

Firework Displays Were Held Across the State in Celebration of Reaching COVID-19 Milestone

Governor Cuomo: "To celebrate and honor tonight, we're going to light all the state assets. Empire State Building and blue and gold. And we're going to have fireworks all across the state of New York tonight to celebrate and honor the essential workers. It's our way of saying thank you all across the state, the essential workers to celebrate our reopening. Our re-imagining. And to remind all New Yorkers, join the success. Join the success. You want to honor essential workers? I'll tell you how. You want to honor essential workers, you get vaccinated so you don't need the essential workers again. And literally they're going to be displayed all across the state. So wherever you are, they'll be in your community and you can be part of the celebration tonight."

Yesterday, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that landmarks across the state would be lit blue and gold on June 15 in celebration of reaching 70 percent of New York adults receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition to these lightings, firework displays were held at 10 sites across the state.
