Governor Hochul: “Yesterday, out of frustration with the time it's taking to get those trains back, I sent my top team to go ask questions, find out what's taking so long. And I'm glad, because of the sense of urgency that they brought to the situation, that we can announce that tomorrow we'll have full service returning.”
Earlier today, Governor Kathy Hochul updated New Yorkers on Amtrak service disruptions between New York City and Albany. This follows the Governor deploying senior leaders of her Administration, including from the Department of Transportation, Division of Homeland Security, Emergency Services, and the Director of State Operations and Infrastructure to join New York City and Amtrak officials for a visit to the site to urge service restoration.

A rush transcript of the Governor's remarks is available below:
I want to first of all acknowledge the incredible inconvenience that's been caused by the disruption in the Amtrak line from New York City to Albany. The cessation of service started because of some crumbling infrastructure over the weekend. But yesterday, out of frustration with the time it's taking to get those trains back, I sent my top team to go ask questions, find out what's taking so long. And I'm glad, because of the sense of urgency that they brought to the situation, that we can announce that tomorrow we'll have full service returning and trains going in both directions on Friday.
But again, just an enormous inconvenience for thousands and thousands of workers trying to get to their homes after work, trying to carry on with their normal activities. And any delays like that are not acceptable. And my administration will always be involved to push forward to make sure that service is always restored.
