"My heart goes out to the family and friends of former Assemblymember Susan John. Susan was a trailblazer for women and working families, and she used her platform to fight for equality, fairness, and the safety of our children, including the creation of the statewide Amber Alert system.

"Rochester and New York State as a whole are better because of Susan's service. She was a force to be reckoned with and her legacy will be a guiding star for all of us."
