“Yesterday, I convened a meeting with New York’s bipartisan Congressional delegation and the families of individuals whose loved ones have been taken hostage by Hamas. These families shared their stories and their grief with us, and we committed to doing everything possible to bring their loved ones home safely.
“We welcome the news that an agreement has been reached to release hostages being held by Hamas, including American hostages. This deal would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of President Biden and his administration.
“While this is a tremendous step, we cannot rest until every hostage is safely released and returned home. I’ve met with so many heartbroken families since October 7, both in New York and on my trip to Israel, and have communicated their sense of urgency to leaders in Washington and in Israel. While we await further information from the White House, we continue to call for the protection and release of those who remain in Hamas captivity.”
