"On day one, I pledged to get federal rental relief money out the door and into the hands of New Yorkers. Since then, we have broken the bureaucratic logjam and quadrupled the amount of pandemic relief distributed. With $913 million in New Yorkers' hands, we are now among the national leaders in rent relief distributed and ranked first in money obligated. But with more than 250,000 applications filed, it is clear New York State renters and landlords still continue to feel the devastating economic impacts of the pandemic.
Today, the U.S. Department of Treasury will start accepting applications through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program for states in need of additional relief funds, and New York State will submit its application as expeditiously as possible. I thank President Biden and the U.S. Treasury for this opportunity and remain committed to securing this critical relief for New Yorkers."
