Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today issued the following statement after President Trump attacked New York's law protecting women's reproductive rights and proposed outlawing protections provided by Roe v. Wade during his State of the Union speech. Last month, Governor Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act codifying the protections of Roe v. Wade into law in New York State.
"Tonight President Trump proposed rolling back the protections provided by Roe v. Wade — the law of our nation for 46 years affirmed and reaffirmed by numerous Supreme Courts.
New York has a message to those who spread lies and fear to control women's reproductive health decisions: Not going to happen. Not now, not ever."
