Photos: Governor Hochul Hosts a Roundtable with Asian American Leaders on Hate Crimes

Earlier today, Governor Kathy Hochul hosted a roundtable with Asian American leaders and issued the following statement:

"This afternoon, I met with leaders in New York's Asian American community to discuss solutions to the alarming rise in hate and violent crimes in their community. It was a productive conversation about the ways in which we can continue to support the AAPI community and provide our law enforcement with the necessary resources to keep our streets safe.

"My administration is committed to sending a strong message that hate has no home in New York. That is why I recently announced the largest investment in Asian American communities in our state's history — $10 million in awards for organizations that bring services and supportive programs directly to Asian American New Yorkers.

"New Yorkers everywhere must continue to stand united against Asian hate. We all deserve to be safe on our streets, in our subways and in our homes. I look forward to our continued partnership with leaders in the Asian American community as we move forward together in our fight against hate."
