Earlier today, Governor Kathy Hochul visited the Farmingdale Armed Forces Reserve Center to greet National Guard members the Governor deployed earlier this week on Long Island in preparation for Hurricane Lee.
"While Hurricane Lee is unlikely to hit New York, it's long-range effects are projected to impact coastal areas across Long Island," Governor Hochul said. "I'm deeply grateful to the men and women of the New York National Guard for their service to protect our communities, and we will continue our whole-of-government efforts to monitor and prepare for extreme weather."
State agencies continue to prepare for a hurricane that could cause dangerous high surf, rip currents, coastal flooding, and beach erosion along parts of the east coast later this week as it moves north. While the final path of the storm is still unclear, Governor Hochul is urging New Yorkers to closely monitor the storm’s development this week and ensure they are taking the appropriate steps to keep their households safe, if it ends up impacting New York State.
