Photos: Governor Hochul Celebrates Historic Investments of FY 2025 New York State Budget

Earlier today, Governor Kathy Hochul traveled throughout New York City to highlight the major policy achievements of the FY25 Enacted Budget. Governor Hochul visited a legal cannabis dispensary to discuss new legislation to crack down on illicit storefronts, a youth mental health clinic to highlight how students can take advantage of opportunities in AI, the CUNY School of Public Health to spotlight the fight against maternal and infant mortality, and a bodega to celebrate new laws that protect frontline retail workers.

Governor Hochul met with:

  • CONBUD Cannabis Dispensary. Governor Hochul touted reforms in the Budget to end the proliferation of illicit cannabis operations and protect the legal marketplace. CONBUD’s licensed operation is an example of how New York’s cannabis market can promote equity and lift up underserved communities.
  • The Child Mind Institute. Governor Hochul engaged with students, teachers and instructors about the Empire AI initiative, which will establish New York State at the forefront of artificial intelligence research.
  • Health care providers and staff at the CUNY School of Public Health. The Governor highlighted New York’s first-in-the-nation program to provide paid leave to expecting mothers.
  • 1408 Gourmet Deli in Washington Heights. She discussed her comprehensive plan to crack down on organized retail theft, and to help small businesses like 1408 Gourmet Deli invest in new security measures.
