Governor Hochul Issues Proclamation for Independence Day

Governor Kathy Hochul today issued a proclamation declaring July 4 as Independence Day in the State of New York. The Governor also announced that on Tuesday, July 4, State landmarks will be illuminated red, white, and blue.

"Independence Day is a prominent reminder that the great State of New York remains committed to the founding principles our great country was built upon – equality, freedom and justice for all,” Governor Hochul said. "New York State stands firm in our continued commitment to upholding and safeguarding the democracy that was stood up 247 years ago. I wish all New Yorkers a joyous, safe and happy July 4th holiday!"

The Governor announced that the following State landmarks will be illuminated red, white, and blue on Tuesday, July 4 in celebration of Independence Day:

• One World Trade Center
• Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge
• Kosciuszko Bridge
• The H. Carl McCall SUNY Building
• State Education Building
• Alfred E. Smith State Office Building
• Empire State Plaza
• State Fairgrounds – Main Gate & Expo Center
• Niagara Falls
• The “Franklin D. Roosevelt” Mid-Hudson Bridge
• Albany International Airport Gateway
• Lake Placid Olympic Center
• MTA LIRR - East End Gateway at Penn Station
• Fairport Lift Bridge over the Erie Canal
• Moynihan Train Hall
