Governor Hochul Illuminates New York Landmarks to Mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that New York State landmarks will be lit yellow tonight, January 27, to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Held on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the victims of the Holocaust, which resulted in the murder of one third of the Jewish people and millions of members of other marginalized groups.

"On this solemn day, New Yorkers stand in solidarity with the Jewish community to remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust," Governor Hochul said. "We will forever honor the memory of those killed as we vow to end antisemitism and all forms of hate in our state. We owe it to the victims, survivors, and their families."
