Governor Kathy Hochul today appointed Terryl Brown to serve on the Joint Commission on Public Ethics. With this appointment, Governor Hochul has now filled all long-standing vacancies on the commission.
"To restore trust in government, we need strong, independent ethics oversight," Governor Hochul said. "Terryl Brown is highly qualified, respected, and ethically impeccable, and I am proud to appoint her to serve our state."
Terryl Brown has been appointed to the Commission. Ms. Brown currently serves as Chief Legal Counsel, Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Administration for the Fire Department of New York City. She was the first woman to serve as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the New York Power Authority. She has worked for two New York Governors and three New York Attorneys General, serving as Acting Counsel to the Governor, First Assistant Counsel to the Governor, and Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer to the Attorney General.
