Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the Boil Water Notice and Conserve Water Notice, prompted by a recent water main break, have been officially lifted. The water quality has been thoroughly tested and after consultation with the New York State Department of Health, confirmed to meet all state and federal drinking water standards.
“Sudden emergencies like the one Watertown has just faced require coordination and cooperation on multiple fronts – because of the City and the County’s cohesive response, this was resolved quickly and efficiently,” Governor Hochul said. “Thank you to those who sacrificed their time to work on behalf of their neighbors and thank you to the people of Watertown who graciously conserved their water. We are thankful to have everything back in working order.”
Following the water main break, the dedicated teams from the city, state, and private sector have worked tirelessly to repair and restore the water system, ensuring the safety and reliability of the city's water supply. Through their diligent efforts, the necessary precautions have been taken to safeguard the integrity of the water distribution network, allowing residents and businesses to resume normal water usage without any restrictions.
