15 State Landmarks to be Lit the Evening of Thursday, October 19
Governor Kathy Hochul announced state landmarks to be illuminated purple tonight, October 19, to mark New York’s participation in the National “Purple Thursday” Campaign to raise awareness and show support for survivors of domestic violence.
“Survivors and victims of domestic violence have been through enough – dealing with the aftermath should not have to be a traumatic experience,” Governor Hochul said. “Tonight, state landmarks will be illuminated in purple to show the State of New York’s support for survivors and victims of domestic violence.”
Earlier this month, Governor Hochul issued a proclamation declaring October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Read the proclamation here.
