Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that landmarks would be lit light blue on December 14, 2021, to celebrate New York City FC (NYCFC) winning the Major League Soccer Cup. NYCFC played its first game in 2015, as the twentieth overall expansion team of the MLS. It is the first franchise based in the city, and the second in the New York metropolitan area, after the New York Red Bulls. Since 2015, the club have primarily played their home games at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The 2021 MLS Cup is the first MLS championship in the club’s history.
“I want to congratulate the entire team and backroom staff at NYCFC for their dramatic MLS Cup victory over the weekend,” Governor Hochul said. “You have done New York City and State proud with this incredible achievement and we hope this Cup will be the first of many more championships to come.”

- Grand Central Terminal - Pershing Square Viaduct
- Albany International Airport Gateway
- The Lake Placid Olympic Jumping Complex
- MTA LIRR - East End Gateway at Penn Station
- Empire State Plaza
