Representative Hakeem Jeffries said, “This pandemic will not be over for any of us until it is over for all of us. As the winter surge spreads across our city and state, one of the best defenses will be a robust testing program accessible to every community in need. I thank Governor Hochul for making walk-up testing available at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station.”

Representative Adriano Espaillat said, “Access to free, accessible, and reliable testing is at the cornerstone of how we get through the remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic – and it’s what every single person who calls New York City home deserves. I commend Governor Hochul for working diligently with me to ensure that the residents of New York’s 13th congressional district can protect themselves and their families and applaud the opening of these two additional testing sites in collaboration with SOMOS and the MTA. Together, working collaboratively through our efforts, we will get through this surge like we have these past two years by lifting each other up and getting our constituents the resources they need.”

Representative Carolyn Maloney said, “Access to COVID-19 testing continues to be an important part of our State’s fight against the pandemic, especially with the extreme transmissibility of the Omicron variant. I applaud the Governor’s efforts to ramp up testing sites around the City and am grateful for this new pop-up testing stop at the Queens Plaza Station during weekday evening commuting hours.”

State Senator Michael Gianaris said, “The rapid spread of the Omicron variant has created great new demand for Covid testing. I’ve been working to increase testing capacity in western Queens and this is welcome news. I am glad the state is stepping up and I thank Governor Hochul. By ensuring everyone can get regularly tested easily, we can stem the spread of covid-19.”

State Senator Alessandra Biaggi said, "The Bronx is experiencing the highest COVID-19 positivity rates in the City, and the Fordham area has a positivity rate of more than 47%. Expanding vaccine sites across the borough is imperative for the safety of Bronxites and to mitigate the current COVID-19 surge. I want to thank Governor Kathy Hochul and her entire team for securing a much needed testing site at the Bedford Park station, and for their steadfast commitment to expanding access to free COVID-19 testing for all New Yorkers."

State Senator Jamaal Bailey said, “As we work to combat the surge in cases, we must do everything we can to meet the urgent need for testing resources in our communities, particularly those who have been hardest-hit by the pandemic. The expansion of additional walk-in testing sites at our subway stations including the Bedford Park Station in the Bronx will be critical in making testing more accessible and convenient for our residents. Thank you Governor Hochul for working quickly to increase testing capacity and ensure New Yorkers have the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones.”

State Senator Diane Savino said, "Thank you Governor Hochul for your continued leadership and assistance in closing the gaps in testing for the people of South Brooklyn. The West End of Coney Island and Seagate are often overlooked and this needed pop-up will close the loop for many."

State Senator Cordell Cleare said “Testing is an important tool we have to help control the transmission of Covid 19. Making testing available at heavily used subway stations like 125th Street A,C,D stop makes it much more accessible and convenient for area riders and residents to get tested. We welcome this additional resource coming to the district and know it will be helpful in fighting the spread.”

Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus said, “As Southern Brooklyn continues to face high COVID positivity rates, having access to regular testing has become essential. Unfortunately, many New Yorkers have been confronted with long lines and unacceptable wait times. I’m extremely pleased that Governor Hochul and her team are bringing needed testing sites to Brooklyn, including one right here in Coney Island. This will help greatly in our collective fight against Covid and I encourage residents to take advantage and get tested as needed.”

Assemblymember Cathy Nolan said, "Thank you Governor Hochul for providing this new testing site, which will help to improve availability in our western Queens neighborhoods. Increasing access to this vital service is key to reducing the burden of coronavirus infection on our families and the community."
