Department of Taxation and Finance to Assist Taxpayers with Incomes under $62,000 to File Returns Ahead of April 18 Deadline
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today deployed the New York State Mobile Command Center to the Bronx and Queens to help eligible taxpayers file their tax returns for free ahead of the April 18 deadline. The unit will be staffed by Tax Department employees and assist individuals with incomes under $62,000 to file their taxes from April 13 through April 16.
“The mobile command center makes it easier than ever for New Yorkers to file their returns securely and accurately this year,” Governor Cuomo said. “More than 1.3 million taxpayers in the Bronx and Queens qualify for this free service, and I urge all eligible New Yorkers to take advantage.”
“I thank Governor Cuomo for, once again, bringing beneficial government services directly to our communities by deploying the Mobile Command Center, adding to the free filing options available to taxpayers,” said New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Jerry Boone.
The New York State Tax Department volunteers, including some who speak Spanish and Haitian Creole, will be available to guide taxpayers through the online return preparation and filing process. In addition, volunteers who speak Bengali and Urdu will be on hand at the Queens Library (Central) location in Jamaica.
In partnership with libraries and other community organizations, the Tax Department also provides free tax assistance at 85 locations statewide, including many sites across the five boroughs and Long Island.
