OneJet to Offer Direct Flights Starting in 2018
Rejuvenation of Buffalo Economy Increased Demand for Air Travel Options
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that OneJet will be offering non-stop flights between Buffalo and Albany beginning on February 1, 2018. The new flight will offer a direct link between the Capital Region and New York State's largest upstate city, and will operate two times per day at convenient times for business travelers.
"The return of Buffalo to Albany air service is a testament to our efforts to revitalize the Western New York economy that will only add to the momentum of this region's renaissance," Governor Cuomo said. "OneJet is a brand new airline to the Queen City, one that caters to people who want to get their business done quickly and go back home to their families. We welcome the expanded service this company will provide and look forward to building upon it even further as we continue to move Western New York forward."

OneJet will also offer new service between Buffalo and Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. This summer, the company began offering direct flights from Albany to Pittsburgh.
"OneJet's arrival at Buffalo Niagara International Airport is another sign of this region's economic revival and emergence as a growing commercial aviation hub," said Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, who took part in today's announcement. "The historic investments made by Governor Cuomo over the past six years have made this a more attractive market for air carriers at a time when the airport is preparing for a major expansion in anticipation of increased traffic. I thank the governor for his commitment to Western New York, and the team at Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority for making this milestone possible."
"Air service between Buffalo and Albany was presented as a mission-critical route for the Upstate New York business community, and we're pleased to offer this new nonstop service to meet that demand," said Matthew Maguire, OneJet CEO. "Our expansion in Western New York also marks a significant milestone for us as we introduce the OneJet Plus product to the market, providing an expanded platform to serve highly demanded routes throughout our network. We look forward to working with our airport partners in Buffalo and Albany to serve travelers based in both cities."
OneJet provides increased access to non-stop travel in mid-sized markets at a relatively competitive price. The service will be operated by the company's Hawker 400XP jet aircraft. Passengers on the routes will enjoy a variety of travel-enhancing benefits, including TSA Pre-access for eligible travelers, expedited boarding, complimentary high speed WiFi, and a selection of healthy snacks.
New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Paul A. Karas said, "Governor Cuomo's unparalleled investments in Buffalo have driven an increase in economic development and jobs in Western New York, leading to a demand for air service between Buffalo and Albany. Buffalo's transportation network will be well-served by this new air travel option."
