Company to Create 350 Jobs at New 925,000-Square-Foot Mohawk Valley Facility
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the grand opening of the approximately 925,000-square-foot Frankfort distribution center for Tractor Supply Company, the country's largest rural lifestyle retailer, in the Town of Frankfort in Herkimer County. This new location will help service the growing needs of the company's stores throughout the Northeast, as well as their online customers. The construction of this project is the largest economic development project in 30 years in Herkimer County.
"From day one of this administration we have made significant strategic investments upstate to create good jobs and bolster the economy, and the grand opening of this distribution center in Herkimer County demonstrates once again that New York State is open for business," Governor Cuomo said. "We are proud to invest in companies that invest in New York and Tractor Supply Company's new facility will generate hundreds of jobs and move the Mohawk Valley's economy forward."
"The Tractor Supply Company's distribution center in Herkimer County is a significant investment in the area creating hundreds of jobs," said Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul. "The company's new location enables the country's largest rural lifestyle retailer to continue to grow and service their online customers. The construction of this project is a gamechanger for Herkimer County, creating new opportunities and strengthening the economy of the entire Mohawk Valley region."
Tractor Supply Company Frankfort Distribution Center General Manager Wayne Evans said, "Tractor Supply is excited to formally open the doors of our new, largest network distribution center here in Frankfort. The Frankfort distribution center will be Tractor Supply's eighth center nationwide, helping to supply the approximately 80 new stores the company opens each year. Empire State Development has committed up to $3 million in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits, which are tied directly to the creation of 350 new jobs over the next five years. New York State Homes and Community Renewal awarded Herkimer County $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant Economic Development funds to support the project. In addition, the New York Power Authority has allocated more than 1.3 megawatts of low-cost hydropower to the Village of Frankfort for the direct benefit of Tractor Supply.

The opening of Tractor Supply's distribution center and the 350 jobs that are coming with it are the headline, but this is just the start.
