Over 300 High-Paying Jobs to be Created and Retained

Albany, NY (January 26, 2012)

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that ShoreGroup, Inc., a nationally leading IT systems management provider, will retain and expand its software development and managed services operations in Onondaga County, anticipating the creation of 200 new high-wage jobs through 2016.

“The expansion of ShoreGroup is another example of an industry-leading, home-grown company choosing to strengthen and grow its roots in New York,” Governor Cuomo said. “By forging public-private partnerships such as this, we can leverage state resources to generate significant investment and create the jobs we need to grow the Upstate economy.”

Utilizing $3 million in Excelsior tax credits from Empire State Development, the company expects to invest $2.14 million to move from its existing 7,600 square feet leased offices in Syracuse to 15,000 square feet, and expects to require 23,000 square feet within the next five year period. In addition to the creation of 200 new, high-wage jobs, the expansion allows the company to retain all of its current 113 Upstate software development and managed services employees, including 98 at-risk jobs which would have been lost if this project was implemented out-of-state.

“New York has been our home for over a decade and the Syracuse area is fertile with software development talent, especially in the areas surrounding Syracuse University,” said ShoreGroup CFO Alan Bendes. “Our CaseSentry network and application management platform was born in Syracuse and continues to blossom here. It is becoming an industry standard, having been selected as the best-of-breed solution by many of the largest enterprises around the globe, as well as being selected as the solution of choice by our channel partners for providing a solution to their enterprise contact center customers. New York State made it clear in words, actions and incentives that they wanted us to achieve our growth plans in NY, which made the decision a clear choice for us to invest for growth here as opposed to considering other potential locations.”

Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy said, “We wanted ShoreGroup’s talent pool and investment dollars to remain in New York and were unwilling to lose them to another state. ShoreGroup continues to shine as one of our growing companies in New York, bringing in capital investments and adding good-paying jobs despite a challenging economic environment. We want companies like ShoreGroup to grow here for years to come.”

Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Kenneth Adams said, “Thanks to Governor Cuomo’s efforts to improve New York’s business climate, more and more leading New York businesses are choosing to stay here and grow here. We are making a ten-year, multi-million commitment to ShoreGroup because they are exactly the type of successful and innovative company that our state needs to rebuild our economy. We look forward to many more years of its management helping lead the way toward a more vibrant Upstate economy.”

In the summer of 2011, ShoreGroup began discussions with Empire State Development relating to the company’s rapidly-growing need to expand its Syracuse-based software development and managed services operations. With its corporate headquarters in New York City, locations in over 20 states, and the ability to perform these functions anywhere, the company initially considered undertaking its expansion project out-of-state. However, based on the incentive package developed by ESD, the company decided to expand their operations in Onondaga County.

As a result of re-investment of profits generated by the Company in expanding its salesforce and securing agreements with major global industry players such as Cisco, IBM, and Verizon, employment has exploded within the past two years, with 113 professionals stationed in Syracuse. Additionally, the company forecasts an additional 200 high-wage, professional jobs in the next five years, and comparable growth in the five years following.

Senator John DeFrancisco said, “I congratulate ShoreGroup, Inc. on its expansion and I commend Governor Cuomo for promoting small business prosperity in New York State. ShoreGroup exemplifies what it means to be a successful small business; a veteran-run endeavor built from the ground up, that has persevered and emerged as a leader in its field. Local small businesses such as ShoreGroup are the backbone of the Central New York economy and are vital for stimulating economic growth in New York State. Again, I congratulate the owners and employees of ShoreGroup, and wish them many years of success and prosperity in business.”

Assemblyman Sam Roberts said, “ShoreGroup’s recent decision to maintain and expand its operations in Syracuse will help strengthen our local economy at a time when we need it most. It is important that we continue to develop a business-friendly environment in Central New York. Not only will this expansion create vital jobs for our region, but it will retain the good-paying jobs our working families depend on.”
