Albany, NY (January 21, 2013)
On this Martin Luther King Day, we reflect on the teachings of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King had a profound belief in the concept of justice for all people. He believed in racial justice and freedom from discrimination, economic justice and income equality, as well as social justice and community service. Dr. King recognized that although it is an ongoing struggle, we can achieve justice by working together. His ultimate lesson is we can all find and embrace our commonality. Today, we know that government can be a vehicle to do just that and bring positive change to the Empire State. On behalf of all New Yorkers, we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today, but we should honor his legacy every day.
