From the Adirondacks to the wine trails of the Finger Lakes to the world-class beaches of Long Island, New York has some of the most beautiful tourist destinations in every corner of the state, and we are committed to attracting travelers from all around the world to enjoy them. Our efforts to do so are clearly paying off with a recent report by Tourism Economics showing that traveler spending in New York State generated $92 billion in business sales in 2012. This represents an increase of 6 percent from 2011 to 2012 and demonstrates that our focus on growing the tourism industry is working and we are poised for further growth in every single region of the state. As the fifth largest employer in New York State, the tourism industry plays a vital role in our states economy. That is why we are investing the highest level of tourism funding in decades this year, launching targeted marketing campaigns to drive visitors Upstate, highlighting our New York made products with Taste NY, as well as sponsoring special events like next weeks Adirondack Challenge. Our message is simple: come visit the Empire State.
