After nearly ten years of litigation, the State has reached an agreement that will improve service and quality of life for New Yorkers with mental illness living in adult homes. Todays result demonstrates New Yorks commitment to providing the best treatment possible for residents with mental illness and upholding the principles of the Supreme Courts 1999 decision in Olmstead v. L.C. As we have for the last two and a half years, our State will continue to reform how we provide care and housing for all vulnerable New Yorkers to ensure they are getting treatment and support that best fits their needs.
