Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that M&G DuraVent, Inc., a technological leader in the venting industry is expanding and relocating its production operations in New York State, retaining 58 jobs and creating 103 new jobs in Albany County. The grand opening of DuraVents new manufacturing facility will take place on April 24.

DuraVents decision to expand in Albany County and bring jobs here to New York State is great news for the Capital Region, Governor Cuomo said. Today's announcement is yet another demonstration that businesses across the nation are once again seeing New York State as a place to invest and create jobs."

Everyone is very excited, said M&G DuraVent Albany Vice President and General Manager Michael Wolfe. Its a first rate location that gives us the space to expand into the future, take on the production of PolyPro, and create new additional jobs.

As part of the expansion of its venting systems manufacturing plant in the Capital Region, DuraVent has leased and renovated a 140,000 square-foot facility on Jupiter Lane in the Town of Colonie. The new facility will be more than double in size from its previous 65,000 square-foot location on Pearl Street, allowing the Albany facility to assume manufacturing responsibilities previously done in California and Mississippi. The new facility will also be the future home to M&G DuraVents manufacturing processes of PolyPro, an environmentally safe and engineered alternative for condensing gas appliances. Engineered for venting, PolyPro is 100 percent recyclable, contains no toxic or carcinogenic materials, chlorides or heavy metals, and does not release hazardous gases during combustion. The new locations relative proximity to the previous Pearl Street location allows the retention of all employees, and is an ideal location in terms of access to highways and local services.

Empire State Development will assist DuraVent with $1 million in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits and New York State Homes and Community Renewal, through Albany County, will provide $416,000 in NYS Community Development Block Grant funds to be used toward the purchase of machinery and equipment necessary for the expansion. In addition, in 2011, the New York State Department of Labor, through Governor Cuomos Regional Council initiative and Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) process, awarded DuraVent $50,000 through its worker training program.

Under Governor Cuomos leadership, more manufacturing companies are choosing to locate and keep their business in New York, said Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Kenneth Adams. Despite outside competition, DuraVent chose to stay and grow its operations in the Capital Region, demonstrating that the regions unique assets make it an attractive place to do business. Im pleased that we were able to assist DuraVent expand locally and create more than 100 new jobs.

DuraVents expansion in the Capital Region is yet another New York business success story driven by Governor Cuomos commitment to economic development, said New York State Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner/CEO Darryl C. Towns. By partnering and coordinating State resources and programs, we can help businesses grow and contribute to the vitality and quality of life in communities throughout the State, and create the jobs New Yorkers need.

Governor Cuomo's commitment to New York businesses is creating a more vibrant economy, said State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera. The Department of Labors training programs are just one piece of that puzzle and we encourage all employers who can benefit from these types of services to get in contact with us.

Albany County is pleased DuraVent is expanding its operation in the Capital Region, said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. My office will continue to work with Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Empire State Development Corporation to enhance our workforce to provide jobs and opportunity for county residents. The message is clear, Albany County is a desirable place to open a business and raise a family.

Colonie Town Supervisor Paula A. Mahan, We are pleased to welcome DuraVent to Colonie, and we thank Governor Cuomo for his commitment to economic development. His leadership is building a strong and vibrant business environment that benefits the entire state. Not only has DuraVent made the decision to remain in the Capital Region, but it is consolidating its operations here as well. That decision demonstrates that New York really is open for business.
