Governor Paterson Directs Flags to Be Flown at Half-Staff

Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on New York State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Thursday, June 17, in honor of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Michael Plank, a Cameron Mills resident who died while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on June 9.

 

Lance Corporal Plank was assigned to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Pendleton, California.

 

"All New Yorkers grieve today with the friends, family and fellow marines of Lance Corporal Plank," Governor Paterson said. "On behalf of all New Yorkers I extend our condolences. But while we mourn his loss we will honor and remember his service to our nation.

 

Governor Paterson has directed the flags on all State buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor and tribute to our State's service members who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
