Governor Paterson accepted with regret the resignation of Thomas Donlon and issued the following statement:
"Thomas Donlon has served with distinction as Director of the Office of Homeland Security and it is with regret that I have accepted his resignation. Since he joined my administration in January 2009, Mr. Donlon has led the Office of Homeland Security with invaluable expertise and the utmost professionalism. I thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors."
Mr. Donlon said: "It has been a privilege to serve the people of New York as the Director of the Office of Homeland Security and I am grateful to Governor Paterson for that opportunity. I depart government service for a position in the private sector that recently presented itself, but I am proud to have been a part of this Administration and have confidence that under the Governor's leadership, it will continue to achieve results for all New Yorkers."
